The department offers a B.S. in Earth and Environmental Sciences with concentrations in Geology and Geography. The Department currently consists of 8 tenured and tenure-track faculty and has considerable facilities and equipment including smart classrooms, rock prep. lab, petrographic microscope and fluid inclusion lab, chemistry and analytical labs, and an SEM with EDS that will be available for the prosperous candidates teaching and research programs. Primary tasks and Job responsibilities: Job responsibilities include teaching petrology, mineralogy, physical geology, and possibly other courses in their specialty. The prosperous candidate will be expected to initiate and develop a research program and to seek internal and external funding. The candidate will also be expected to advise students and involve students in collaborative undergraduate research projects. expertise, Skills, and Abilities: » Commitment to undergraduate education and capability to work closely with students, faculty, staff, and administration is a must. Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications: » Ph.D. in Geology (advanced ABD will also be considered) with skills in petrology and mineralogy with field practice. Applicant must have a B.S. or equivalent in geology. Additional related practice, such as geochemistry, economic geology, geologic engineering, and geologic field mapping, is desirable. » A background search will be required of the prosperous applicant.
