Primary Function of Organizational Unit The Country Doctor Museum's mission is to interpret the history of health care in rural America. Using its collections of artifacts, archival materials, photographs and physical campus located in Bailey, NC, the Country Doctor Museum shares the legacy of rural health care practitioners with the community and reinforces the education focus of ECU's Division of Health Sciences.

Job tasks This is a part-time, temporary vacancy.

The W.E. Laupus Health Sciences Library seeks a highly motivated, energetic individual to work as a museum docent at the Country Doctor Museum in Bailey, North Carolina.

Responsibilities include greeting guests and tour groups, collecting tour fees, providing guided tours, conducting retail sales, complete stocking tasks in the museum gift shop, participating in educational and special event programs, assisting in general cleaning and maintenance of the public areas, assisting with museum projects, and performing other tasks as assigned.

The work schedules for this position may vary, but candidate will be assigned normal working hours between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm on Tuesday through Saturday (except for scheduled special events).

Candidates applying for this position should be advised that this position is expected to work most Saturdays.

Minimum Education/practice High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to execute the work.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation None

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education Prefer museum practice or practice working in a public service industry. practice in and/or expertise of education or health sciences is highly desirable. Excellent written and oral communication expertise, as well as excellent interpersonal expertise.
