Job Summary This recruitment will be used to fill two full-time Custodian positions for University Housing and Dining Services at Oregon State University (OSU).

University Housing and Dining Services (UHDS) recognizes the importance of learning both in and out of the classroom, and supports the concept of education as an individual as well as a community practice. Our primary focus is service to OSU students. We strive to provide our students, faculty, staff, and guests with safe, economical, on-campus living and dining options that are convenient and comfortable. We offer a variety of living and dining options in twelve residence halls, four cooperatives, three dining centers, and a limited number of family apartments and houses. Our Department is an auxiliary enterprise which is funded solely by customers who use our services - we receive no State or tax dollars. We work to maintain the highest educational and service standards for our customers. This position performs ?essential functions? and is required to report to work during emergency university closures.

This position will adhere to all OSU and UHDS policies and procedures.

This position is required to work in and have access to Student Housing and Dining facilities; therefore, this position requires a background check.

Key Responsibilities 80% General Cleaning
Cleans multiple spaces within UHDS facilities including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing toilets, sinks and showers, kitchens, kitchenettes, lounges, entry areas, laundry rooms, bike rooms, offices, walls and other surfaces, windows and mirrors. May also refill dispensers, dust/sweep, mop, strip, wax and buff floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets, pick up litter, shovel snow, etc. Performs cleaning along a route which may include emptying trash cans, cigarette urns, wastebaskets; washes outside windows, collects and bundles recyclable items.

10% Repairs
Changes incandescent and fluorescent lighting, cleans fixtures and diffusers, clears clogged drains and toilets, replaces batteries in automatic faucet valves and in automatic paper towel dispensers, performs minor maintenance of custodial equipment and building, changes belts or bags on vacuum cleaners, changes brushes and pads on floor buffers, tightens screws, replaces doorknobs, reports needed repairs for maintenance, and safety problems.

5% Supplies
Stocks restrooms with sanitary products, stocks shelves, storage areas and/or cleaning carts with needed supplies, cleans the cart and equipment at end of shift, tests new products, may requisition needed supplies.

5% Misc
Moves furniture for proper room configuration, cleaning purposes, and for floor work. Other tasks as assigned

What You Will Need This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule These positions work in various environments including but not limited to: residence hall, office/work environment, apartment housing or dining center. These positions interact with residents and customers on a everyday basis.

One position is for Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and one position is Friday through Monday from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.
