University business hours are typically 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Hours per week 40 FLSA Status Exempt Division Academic Affairs Department College of Engineering (Col) Work Location EPIC income Range $51,285 - $60,000 Primary Purpose of Department The Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC) is dedicated to educating and training highly skilled engineers to meet the energy industry's demands and support applied research sustainably. As a university-industry partnership, EPIC addresses the education and research needs essential for a safe, reliable, and sustainable energy future. Through workforce development, EPIC prepares the next generation of energy professionals to create innovative solutions for the energy sector. EPIC strengthens the technical workforce, advances technological development, and fosters strategic industry-university collaborations for the global energy industry while also bolstering the economic and energy security of the Carolinas. Primary Purpose of Position The purpose of this position is to support EPIC's workforce development initiatives, which include but are not limited to support for the following programs: the Steps4Growth project funded by the EDA through North Carolina A&T, EPIC's efforts for external and internal outreach, and support for the EPIC Affiliates program. Summary of Position Responsibilities The position takes direction from and provides support to the Senior Workforce Development Program Manager. Tasks include but are not limited to focusing on the planning, execution, and prosperous completion of various EPIC workforce program initiatives. Minimum Education/practice » Bachelor's degree and; » Two years practice is required. Preferred Education, expertise, expertise and practice » Since this is a critical aspect for the success of research and technology development, a combination of expertise and practice in energy storage control theory methods is essential. The preferred candidate will hold a PhD. in Electrical Engineering specializing in controls and energy storage theory. » Fluent in power systems control concepts for dc/dc, dc/ac grid interactive and dc/ac grid independent power conversion systems. » Strong coding expertise in Simulink and MATLAB. » Proficient coding expertise in C/C++. » Energy storage systems architecture and physics. » practiced in energy storage development processes and documentation. » Practiced hands-on energy storage testing, data collection, and analysis. » Conversant with power system control parameters for feedback control design. » Familiar with applications of power electronic products and sequence of controls for different applications. » expertiseable in photovoltaic, battery, renewable energy and conventional generation control schemes with inverter-located systems. » Fluent in conducting control and software design reviews in a diverse group including code reviews and methods of conducting reviews. » practiced in taking full ownership of the software and control design. » Able to do technical writing and create instructions to document for other areas of the design/test team as well as the users of the developed control. » Task and deadline oriented, self-starter/driven, leadership abilities. » Proven track record writing and publishing scholarly publications.
