The College of Education is seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Director of Marketing and Communications is a leadership abilities position within the Oregon State University (OSU) College of Education reporting to the Dean, with primary responsibility and accountcapability to manage the day-to-day and strategic communications and marketing activities of the College. The incumbent serves as the primary contact for media requests and press releases, as well as acts as the primary contact to the OSU Foundation, OSU Alumni Association, OSU News and Research, and the Office of University Relations and Marketing.

The director is responsible for managing the marketing and communications needs of the college to support strategic initiatives identified by the dean, including, but not limited to, recruiting and retaining students, enhancing the reputation of the college, growing the resources of the college, and supporting regional advancement through external partnerships and alumni development. The incumbent will create and implement long and short-term communication and marketing plans and collaborate with college leadership abilities around a strategic vision to ensure a synergistic and comprehensive communication program that serves university and college interests.

The director's responsibilities include researching, writing, managing, and supervising the creation and implementation of electronic and print-located college communications; formulating long- and short-term marketing and communications plans; managing plans and attaining and superviseing budget for these plans; designing and implementing an integrated marketing strategy, including digital marketing strategy; supervising staff; developing consistency and providing oversight of messaging, marketing and communications; coordinating all college marketing and communication efforts, including media placement/purchase; and planning and executing major college events and event promotions.

Key Responsibilities 35% Communications and Marketing
   » Ensure that college materials are aligned with university messaging and branding platforms.
   » Analyze various data sources to determine most effective communications, public relations, and marketing strategies.
   » Evaluate results of various initiatives and make determinations on continuation or change in marketing and communications plans.
   » Develop, implement, and maintain a strategic marketing and communications plan for the college that is consistent with the university's brand platform and best practices for similar academic programs.
   » Design and implement an integrated marketing strategy, including digital marketing strategy.
   » Create and disseminate information to a variety of outside audiences to enhance consciousness of and involvement with the college's academic and research missions.
   » Coordinate with the dean to determine theme and content of newsletters, websites, annual reports, etc.
   » supervise the research, interviews, writing, and editing of content for marketing and communication needs.
   » Counsel academic units, faculty, staff, and student groups on best practices in communications, marketing, and public relations.
   » Research strategic marketing and communications plans to identify best practices and strengthen the college's competitive market position.
   » Plan, direct and evaluate communications of the Dean's office for internal and external audiences.
   » May serve as primary writer for Dean's correspondence, speeches, reports, proposals, communications with donors and alumni.
   » Create, disseminate, and manage production of collateral print and electronic marketing materials for the college and its programs to a variety of audiences to enhance consciousness of and involvement with the college's academic and research missions.
   » Work closely with the Dean, the dean's Administrative Team, and the Dean's Advancement Committee to ensure that necessary and appropriate communications reach audiences in a timely manner.

35% Strategic and Public Relations:
   » Professionally engage with the OSU Foundation and OSU Alumni Association to strengthen ties with alumni and prospective, continuing, and major donors.
   » supervise messaging and strategy for campaigns and donor relations.
   » Mange and coordinate projects for outreach, research, accreditation and licensure. This may include photography, videography (or coordinating a photographer or videographer), editing content, and producing print media (e.g. pamphlets, posters). This may also include digital exhibits for CAEP and CACREP accreditation reports and site visits, special websites for research projects, and social media posts for disseminating faculty work to the public.
   » Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to communication strategies regarding the college's academic research, instructional and outreach programs. located on this information, engage in significant working groups and committees to:
   » raise consciousness of the college's academic mission and programs
   » increase in donor giving
   » recruit undergraduate and graduate students
   » increase external engagement, including community partners and internship sites
   » Assist the dean with public relations and marketing activities to support the college's function in the university's and the,
   » college's capital campaign.
   » Provide marketing and communications to assist the Dean in the OSU Day of Giving and other opportunities.

15% Administration and Program Management
   » Manage marketing and communications budget to support college marketing and communications plans.
   » Serve as college primary contact for the OSU Foundation and OSU Alumni Association
   » Serve on University committees when appropriate.
   » Provide counsel to the dean and college leadership abilities with regard to public relations, marketing, and communications
   » Attend professional development trainings to stay current in the University's branding, communications, website management, writing, design, and all areas related to communications and marketing (e.g., Brand Symposium) to serve as the College of Education Brand Manager.

15% Supervision:
   » Provide leadership abilities, supervision, and direction for staff responsible for web development, content creation and publication, digital enrollment marketing, design, email communications, messaging, social media, and video creation.
   » Set goals with all staff to ensure appropriate story selection, branding, and initiatives connect with key stakeholders, including alumni.
   » Hire and train employees. Plan, assign, and review work. Establish goals and assess performance through written evaluations. Act on disciplinary issues, up to and including dismissal. Address grievances, developing a framework for corrective actions as necessary.
What You Will Need
   » Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, or related field.
   » 4 years' professional practice in marketing, media writing, or communications.
   » capability to work independently.
   » Project management practice.
   » Outstanding written and interpersonal communication expertise.
   » practice designing and/or executing integrated marketing plans, including digital marketing strategy.
   » practice developing and managing a budget.
   » practice with web technologies and managing a website.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
