Minimum Position Appropriate qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in early childhood special education, early childhood education, child and family studies (child development), early intervention, deaf education or visual disabilities, special education K-12, elementary education, communication disorders and speech language pathology and/or related field.

Related field means a degree in social work, nursing, psychology, education administration, and/or sociology. Related field degrees require a minimum of three (3) years documented practice working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families. This requirement does not apply to Grantee staff who provided these services prior to July 1, 2014.

Must be able to independently control own workflow and actively participate in collaboration. Must have valid driver's license and private, fully insured vehicle. Required competency with laptop computers, Excel and Microsoft Office.

Special Conditions: Provides assessment and intervention services to assist families in fostering the growth and development of children, birth through age four, who have been identified as having developmental delays by the state coordinating/funding agency, Tennessee Early Intervention Systems (TEIS).

Work is typically performed in the family's home or within natural settings in the community, such as childcare environments as well as video conference platforms. Special instruction and support is offered within a family-centered, strength-located philosophy and approach. The Developmental Therapist will participate as a team member to support the development and implementation of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) for families in the Memphis and Shelby County Tennessee area.

First consideration to be given to current University of Memphis employees.

This is a grant-funded position contingent upon funding availcapability. The grant end date is 06/30/2024. The budget for the position is already in place.

Multiple positions may be filled from this posting.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
May need to work/travel beyond normal work schedule.

Hiring Range: $40,000 - $43,000 per year

Working Conditions: While performing the tasks of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Additional Working Conditions: Working conditions may require lifting up to 25 pounds.

tasks & Job responsibilities: Provides special instruction, under the title of Developmental Therapist, per IFSP to families and children with developmental delays or disabilities. Provision of Services involves independent planning, scheduling and transportation to home or community environment as specified on the IFSP.

tasks & Job responsibilities: Assessment and service documentation. Records all interactions and services in child's educational record. Completes assessments and submits reports accordingly every six months for every child/family.

tasks & Job responsibilities: Attends staff meetings, required trainings and seminars and additional hours of training to meet personal qualification standards. Participates in professional development observation and plan each quarter.
