Essential Function of Position
   » Provide innovative, visionary leadership abilities and strategic planning for the Tyler Creative Scholars Program.
   » Work with a wide variety of stakeholders to shape the program and develop a significant and engaging curriculum. Build and maintain cooperative, respectful, trusting working relationships between the diverse constituencies involved in the prosperous execution of the program, including Tyler faculty, program faculty, staff, students, school partners, and others.
   » Serve as an ambassador for Tyler to Philadelphia students, families, and high school teachers and guidance counselors within the School District of Philadelphia.
   » Lead the process of recruiting students.
   » Teach in the program, and recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of instructors.
   » supervise day-to-day program operations, including management of food services and student records, such as medical forms and photo releases.
   » Collaborate with Tyler communications staff to generate inspiring stories of student achievement to promote the program, the school, and the importance of art education.
   » Work closely with the Tyler Enrollment Management staff to identify and recruit program participants as prospective Tyler students.
   » Develop evaluation criteria and procedures and produce measurable data to evaluate program progress and success.
   » Manage program budget, including developing budgets and annual reconciliations.
   » supervise the development and implementation of annual Creative Scholars exhibition.
   » Work with the school's development office to provide periodic reports to external funder(s).
   » Provide uninterrupted support to Creative Scholars who go on to apply to Temple with the goal of promoting a smooth transition from high school into college.
   » Counsel program participants on the college application process at Temple and elsewhere.
   » Counsel and advise students on the development and preparation of portfolios for art school applications.
   » Develop opportunities and coordinate placements for internship opportunities for program participants.
   » Aid Creative Scholars in the Temple and Tyler admissions processes and serve in a mentorship function to those students who enroll as undergraduates into any of Tyler's degree programs.
   » Performs other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
3-5 years of practice teaching in an academic setting or arts organization. practice working with and supporting underrepresented and underserved populations in an educational setting, such as a university campus, K-12 school, community organization or museum. An equivalent combination of education and practice may be considered.
Required expertise and Abilities
* Broad knowledge of art and practice in artmaking
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal expertise along with the capability to effectively interact with a diverse group of administrators, faculty, students, and community members.
* practice in outreach, promotion, and/or marketing.
* capability to lead meetings and make effective presentations to different size groups.
* Strong analytical expertise along with the capability to present findings.
* capability to travel locally and work weekends as needed.
* capability to work independently as well as with a team.
Preferred
* Master's degree or advanced training
* practice and capability in academic advising and/or student support
* Proficiency in Spanish
