Posting DetailsPosting InformationPosting Number: FAE1864 Advertised Title: adjunct Professor Public History Campus Job location: Main Campus (Memphis, TN) Position Number: 001897 Job Category: Full-Time Faculty Department: History Position Summary: Pending final funding approval, the Department of History at The University of Memphis, a Carnegie R1 institution, seeks to hire a tenure-track adjunct Professor of Public History beginning in August 2025. Candidates may specialize in any practice of public history, including but not limited to archival work, cultural resources management, digital history, film and media production, historic preservation, local history, museum exhibition and curation, oral history, and site interpretation. The teaching load for this position is two courses per semester, including at least one survey-level course per semester that satisfies the university's General Education requirement in History. Candidates should be able to offer upper-level courses and graduate seminars that train students in the practices of public history. Minimum Position Appropriate qualifications: A Ph.D. in History or related discipline is required upon appointment. Special Conditions: We welcome applications from historians of any time period or geographic area. We seek candidates who will develop connections with Memphis-area institutions.
