Organizational Unit Overview The Concepts Integration Laboratories (CILs) are a department of 8 laboratories within the College of Nursing. The primary purpose of the CILs is to support the College of Nursing's strategic vision and goals for instruction of all levels of graduate and undergraduate student nurses. The CILs also support the community and state of North Carolina in the health education of its citizens through consultation, demonstrations. public relations, and other research activities.

The eight Concepts Integration Laboratories (CILs) house equipment and supplies which enable the student to practice essential clinical nursing expertise in settings designed to simulate actual patient care areas. Human simulators, task masters, manikins and scenario/case studies are used to assist the student to develop nursing judgment, expertise proficiency, and positive patient safety practices.

Job tasks The Nurse manager will assist with the organization, day-to-day coordination, and management of the Concepts Integration Labs (CILs) to facilitate the development of psychomotor and critical thinking expertise for students in all programs of study;

Will be responsible for the coordination of graduate, undergraduate, interdisciplinary courses and community usage of the eight laboratories;

Facilitation and integration of simulation within the College of Nursing's curriculum;

Planning and implementation of activities in the absence of the Associate Dean of Nursing Support Services related to public relations (outreach and service), marketing, and communication (liaison);

Problem-solving of issues with students, faculty, staff, vendors, and other departments all over ECU

Consultation with other simulation centers/labs and universities regionally, nationally and internationally to achieve the highest standard of education for ECU students;

Collaboration with ECU and local hospital entities for inter-professional healthcare education;

Oversight of basic durable equipment and expendable supply purchases, supervision of nurse consultants (laboratory coordinators), and graduate, undergraduate, and instructional technology adjunct(s) on a everyday basis;

Representation of the Concepts Integration Laboratories at organizational, university, regional, national and international meetings and conferences as needed;

Development of reports of educational results to assist with departmental and College of Nursing annual reporting;

Lead and collaborate with others in the CILs to assure continuing accreditation of the CILs as a simulation center through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH).

Minimum Education/practice Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of practice in the area of specialization.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation State of North Carolina Registered Nursing License

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education MSN preferred. Five years of current clinical practice. practice in comparable educational or instructional activities preferred. Excellent managery, interpersonal, telephone, organizational and written expertise. capability to mentor, encourage, coach, and support a nursing team. capability to counsel students in integration of nursing care concepts and to remediate as needed. capability to assist with instruction of faculty, nurse consultants (Lab coordinator), peers and student adjuncts in expertise reviews and simulation creation and implementation. Basic computer expertise in MS Word, PPT and Excel. Human patient simulator software expertise preferred. capability to independently manage and delegate Concepts Integration Laboratories' activities to nurse consultants and student adjuncts. capability to evaluate and validate student critical thinking abilities after remediation with appropriate written follow-up to faculty.
