The department of Mathematics and Statistics offers a doctoral program with concentrations in applied mathematics and statistics. The department also offers two master's programs in mathematics and mathematical finance and a variety of undergraduate concentrations leading to the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in mathematics. We seek candidates whose research is in applied mathematics with a focus in scientific computing and numerical analysis such as numerical differential equations and scientific machine learning, or related areas where computation plays a central and essential function, emphasizing analysis, development, and implementation of theoretically justified and efficient algorithms. Minimum practice/Education UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. Preferred Education, expertise and practice Required qualifications include a doctoral degree in mathematics. A commitment to establishing a productive research program. A commitment to excellence in teaching and advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preferred qualifications include excellent research and teaching practice in computational mathematics.
