Position Summary We are seeking for a dedicated and enthusiastic student to assist with field crops extension activities in the Mid-Willamette Valley. This part-time position provides an opportunity to gain practical practice in agricultural extension, focusing on outreach, education, research and support for local growers. The student adjunct will work closely with the extension team to conduct a needs assessment, deliver resources, organize events, and assist in communicating best practices to the agricultural community.

Position tasks
   » Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating field days, workshops, and educational events for growers and stakeholders.
   » Prepare and distribute educational materials, including newsletters, fact sheets, and digital content.
   » Support the development and maintenance of extension resources, such as crop guides and pest management tools.
   » Conduct outreach to local growers, including surveys and needs assessments to gather feedback and identify areas for support.
   » Help with the logistics of field visits, including scheduling, preparation, and follow-up.
   » Assist in the collection and analysis of data related to extension activities and impact assessment.
   » Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving extension services.

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications
   » Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in any program
   » Strong interest in agricultural extension, crop management, and sustainable farming practices.
   » Excellent communication expertise, both written and verbal.
   » capability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a team.
   » availability to engage with growers and community members in a professional and supportive manner.
   » Basic computer expertise, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
   » practice in agricultural extension, outreach, or education.
   » Familiarity with field crops common to the Mid-Willamette Valley, such as grass seed, small grains, and legumes.
   » knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) principles and sustainable farming practices.
   » Proficiency in using data management software, such as Excel, or extension platforms for creating and disseminating educational materials.
   » Strong organizational expertise, with practice in event planning or coordination.
   » capability to create engaging digital content for social media or online outreach.
   » Demonstrated capability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including growers, community members, and stakeholders.
   » Bilingual expertise, especially in Spanish, to enhance communication with a broader range of community members.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
   » This is a part-time position, with flexible hours ranging from 10-20 hours per week. The schedule will be determined located on project needs and the student's availcapability.
   » This position is located at the OSU Marion County Extension Offices in Salem, OR.
