Classical Host/Kids Programming Producer

Listing description
The Classical Music Host at IPR is responsible for curating and presenting captivating classical music broadcasts that celebrate the genre's richness and diversity. this function includes hosting a everyday kids and family program, designed to engage young listeners through age-appropriate music selections and interactive storytelling that fosters a love for classical music. The host will provide insightful commentary, conduct engaging interviews with guest artists, and collaborate with the IPR Engagement team to produce family-friendly music events. Additionally, the host will work closely with the Digital Content producer to create dynamic online content, ensuring that IPR's programming is accessible and engaging for all audiences while promoting an inclusive and supportive community.
Essential tasks:
everyday Classical Music Broadcast:
   » Curate captivating playlists that encompass a wide variety of classical genres, styles, and composers, ensuring a rich and diverse listening practice.
   » Provide insightful commentary during broadcasts, offering historical context, musical analysis, and interesting anecdotes to enhance listener engagement.
   » Engage with the audience through live interactions, encouraging feedback and requests to create a community-centered broadcasting environment.
Family Programming:
   » Produce and host regular programming specifically designed for children and families, featuring age-appropriate classical music selections and engaging storytelling elements.
   » In collaboration with the Music Director, research, script and edit audio for kids and family programming.
   » Develop interactive segments that encourage engagement and participation from young listeners.
Artist Interviews:
   » Conduct engaging interviews with guest artists, capturing their insights, practices, and contributions to the classical music landscape.
   » Highlight the artists' unique perspectives on their work, the creative process, and their thoughts on the future of classical music.
   » Promote the interviews through various platforms to reach a wider audience.
Community Engagement Events:
   » Collaborate with IPR's Engagement team to design and produce in-person family-friendly music events, such as concerts, workshops, and educational sessions that foster a love for classical music.
   » Plan events that include interactive components, allowing families to practice music together and participate in hands-on activities.
Digital Content Creation:
   » Work closely with IPR's Digital Content producer to create engaging content for the IPR website and social media channels, including blog posts, videos, and podcasts that highlight classical music themes and events.
   » Utilize social media platforms to promote broadcasts, events, and engage with the audience through polls, discussions, and behind-the-scenes content.
Inclusive Environment:
   » Foster an inclusive and supportive atmosphere that celebrates and values individual differences within the Interlochen community and the IPR audience.
   » Implement initiatives that encourage diversity in programming and outreach, ensuring that all voices and musical traditions are represented and honored.
Requirements:
   » Bachelor's Degree required
   » Demonstrated expertise and appreciation of classical music, evidenced by a strong personal interest, active involvement in the classical music community, or significant practice in a similar function required
   » practice with children- and family-centered programming, initiatives or activities
   » practice using music scheduling software such as MusicMaster to curate and manage playlists, schedule programming, and maintain accurate music libraries, optimizing the on-air listening practice and ensuring compliance with licensing regulations
   » Skilled in digital audio workstation (DAW) software such as Adobe Audition or Pro Tools, proficiently utilizing these tools to edit, mix, and produce high-quality audio content
   » Proficient in AP Style or demonstrated capability to quickly lgain and adapt to new style guides, ensuring consistency and adherence to editorial standards in written communications, press releases, and promotional materials for IPR
   » Possess exceptional written and oral communication expertise, evidenced by clear and concise articulation of ideas, effective storytelling abilities, and engaging interactions
   » Possess flexibility, agility, and a strong capability to learn, adapting quickly to changing circumstances, embracing new challenges, and acquiring new expertise
   » Demonstrated capability to work independently, taking initiative and effectively managing tasks and projects with minimal supervision
   » capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, effectively prioritizing responsibilities, and maintaining attention to detail amidst competing demands, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of projects
