Job Summary The Division of Extension and Engagement's Family and Community Health Program is seeking a Family and Community Health Program Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. This position is located in Central Point, Oregon. This FCH Program Coordinator position is a member of the regional and statewide teams of the OSU Extension Family and Community Health (FCH) program, affiliated with the College of Health. This position serves Jackson and Josephine counties and is located at the OSU Extension Service Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center (SOREC) in Central Point, Oregon. The FCH Program Coordinator maintains a robust portfolio of programming related to statewide focus areas of public health and nutrition, food systems, physical activity, and health leadership abilities. Specifically, the faculty member provides leadership abilities for the food security and safety programming, including the Master Food Preserver (MFP) program and for programs in the Physical Activity and Active Living (PAAL) portfolio, including StrongPeople. This individual will be responsible for training, managing, and leading active volunteer groups in support program goals. This professional faculty member is expected to provide appropriate specialized skills to support area or statewide FCH programming. The specializations will be determined in consultation with the OSU Extension Family and Community Health Program Leader and the Regional Director and will be complementary to those of other Extension faculty in the region or state. As a member of the statewide team of Extension faculty and staff, collaborative work across disciplines, organizational units, and Extension programs areas is expected. This faculty member is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and/or carrying out educational programming and outreach activities to serve broad and diverse populations in an accessible, inclusive, equitable, and socially just manner. This includes complying with civil rights and language/visual access regulations. This position requires driving/traveling. Active and effective communication with staff and key stakeholders is critical to the success of this position, wireless access may be necessary. Key Responsibilities 40% Program Development and Delivery » Collaborate with community-located Extension faculty, campus faculty, and others in designing, supporting, implementing, and evaluating effective FCH programs. » Disseminate program research to broad and diverse audiences including public agencies, health professionals, lay audiences and others, using a variety of teaching techniques and delivery strategies. » Develop and utilize a program advisory committee and/or other advisory mechanisms as necessary to identify program needs, assist in program implementation and evaluate program effectiveness. » Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement by ensuring that assessments and programming are informed by the needs and voices of participants and community members representing the diversity of the counties. » Develop and expand upon collaborative community partnerships to create innovative programming that is effective, inclusive, and culturally responsive. » Create opportunities to enhance access, inclusion, and significant best practices and include these activities in the annual plan of work, impact statements, and summary of accomplishments/ achievements. » Complete the division's civil rights training session(s) and coordinate the completion by volunteers. » Create accessible and inclusive environments and make space for a range of learner needs and provide reasonable accommodations. » Collaborate with OSU specialists and field faculty to deliver non-credit research-located educational programs focusing on food safety, food security and physical activity. » Develop new programming in a manner that complements existing programs and services and maximizes impact. 30% Program Management » Provide leadership abilities for food security and safety and physical activity volunteer programs in Jackson/Josephine Counties (including, but not limited to the Master Food Preserver and StrongPeople programs). Develop an effective volunteer middle management structure, including a mentoring program. » Create and sustain comprehensive volunteer development and management systems that support delivery of local and regional FCH programs. Provide lead work and direction for volunteers who have various identities and backgrounds, communication styles and expectations. » Follow University guidelines related to Conditions of Volunteer Service, including managing forms and files. » Prepare and support volunteers in knowledge research and following the appropriate program guidelines. » Train and support volunteers on use of state-approved curricula, effective delivery methods, hands-on activities, and program reporting and evaluation practices. » Supervise student workers and interns. » Provide lead work to program adjuncts in proximal counties. 5% - Service to University and Extension » Establish and maintain professional relationships and/or membership with professional organizations and public agencies. » Develop/maintain a liaison with organizations/agencies in Jackson and Josephine Counties. » Attend scheduled OSU Extension County meetings and significant program meetings and trainings. » Participate in significant statewide/regional conferences, workshops, meetings and trainings.
