Yes Job Summary The College of Science is seeking an Academic Advisor. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. The incumbent in this position will help us advance and equalize student success to achieve our broader university mission of producing skilled graduates who are critical thinkers and who will actively contribute to discovery and advancement of expertise that will benefit communities within Oregon and around the world. Persons in this position are expected to support and implement organizational and strategic plans established by the leadership abilities, faculty and staff of the department, and be responsive to guidance from the College of Science advising team. The Academic Advisor will provide academic advising for both on-campus and distance-degree (Ecampus) undergraduate students in the department of Microbiology pursing majors in Microbiology and BioHealth Sciences. The incumbent in this position will work with an practiced team of advisors, and will be expected to be expertiseable about and capable of advising students regarding choices between the two programs. The Microbiology undergraduate student population also includes students with interests in pursuing careers and advanced degrees in the Health Sciences field. Contact with students occurs in multiple formats including phone, email, and video-conferencing correspondence, as well as in-person advising as part of individual, group, and classroom settings. Advising responsibilities will include support for orientation courses which provide students with the resources to be prosperous in their academic career at OSU and in their chosen profession.
