Job Description supervises the creation and development of radio content, production, and development of feature stories for the University's public radio station. In this position you will create and develop radio content, report, supervise newscast content, deliver features, edit, fill in on-air. Program Management - 35% • supervises all newscast content. • Directs and coordinates planning, development, production, and scheduling of local news stories. • Fields program and story ideas from the public. • Participates in on-air fundraising. • Maintains FCC Public File Issues List. managery - 25% • Leads the local desk in the news department including supervising the activities of local reporting/newscast production staff. • Assigns, supervises, edits and reports local news stories, including local features and spot news. Reporting - 25% • Reports on issues of local significance, adhering to the highest standards of public radio journalism. • Performs on-air responsibilities such as hosting live and pre-recorded air shifts including Morning Ediiton and All Things Considered. Community Emgagement and Communication - 10% • Represents the station at community, university and professional gatherings and meetings. • Provides program information for KNAU website and eblasts. • Posts archival audio and supplies ancillary materials. Other - 5% • Other tasks as assigned. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Communications or related field. • 5-7 years of significant practice. • Any combination of significant education and practice may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. FLSA Status This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not gain overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
