Primary Purpose of Department The Office of School and Community Partnerships provides support services to education candidates for clinical and internship practices in local schools, districts, and agencies. By fostering collaborative relationships between the Cato College of Education, surrounding schools, public agencies, and the community, the Office of School and Community Partnerships seeks to enrich the practice of our pre-service educators and faculty. Our office works in collaboration with faculty, public and private agencies, and the community to coordinate long-term partnerships that enrich and enhance our program to ensure equity, excellence, and engagement.

The Cato College of Education prepares highly effective and ethical professionals who have a positive impact on children, youth, families, communities, and schools and who are prosperous in urban and other diverse settings. We enroll approximately 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students annually. Our programs are nationally accredited and approved by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Primary Purpose of Position The primary purpose of the Director of Educational Partnerships is to provide outstanding support to faculty, schools, and community partners of the Cato College of Education and the Office of School and Community Partnerships. The Director of Educational Partnerships provides leadership abilities to the Office of School and Community Partnerships and leads the development and organization of professional development, conferences, and events for faculty and school and community partners.

Summary of Position Responsibilities Specific responsibilities include the following:
   » Collaborates with faculty, staff, and community partners to plan and implement professional development and conferences for aspiring and current educators.
   » Collaborate with school and community partners on opportunities for clinical and student teaching placement partnerships.
   » Serve as the College's liaison with the Southwest Education Alliance.
   » Work collaboratively with groups on and off campus that share a commitment to effective professional development for educators.
   » Respond to requests for service from schools and the community.
   » Provide leadership abilities, as needed, regarding faculty service to schools.
   » Serve as a member of the College of Education leadership abilities Council and other committees as deemed appropriate by manager.
   » Provide leadership abilities, as needed, in the Office of School and Community Partnerships.
   » Collaborates with and leads faculty/staff in OSCP and the Cato College of Education on diversity initiatives.
   » Provides leadership abilities on the Cato College of Education Awards.
Minimum Education/practice A terminal degree in education or an equivalent field and 3 years of teaching practice.

Preferred Education, expertise, expertise and practice A terminal degree in education or an equivalent field and 3 years of teaching practice.
The Director will demonstrate a combination of vision and creativity along with strong task management expertise, initiative, and the capability to work independently and in teams. A master's degree in education or a closely related field is required. Professional practice in P-12 Education is required. practice in planning and delivering professional development programs, event planning, contract management, and professional writing is desired. Exceptional interpersonal, collaborative, organization, managery, writing, speaking and problem-solving expertise are necessary.

Necessary Certifications/Licenses North Carolina educator's license (or the equivalent).
