Job tasks: JOB SUMMARY:
Peer Health Educators operate as leaders in educating and influencing the campus student body about health and wellness topics. Peer Health Educators will develop and present educational programs to the campus community on a variety of topics such as alcohol consciousness, substance abuse, sexual responsibility, STDs, nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, and other significant topics for Lamar University students. Peer Health Educators will develop and enhance teaching and public speaking expertise. They will also lgain the importance of networking and developing relationships with other groups on campus. The Peer Health Educator will report to the adjunct Director of Health Education in the Student Health Center.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Peer Health Educators, known as ?Healthy Cards? will serve as an example to their fellow Lamar University peers. Information technology is expected that Healthy Cards Leaders will demonstrate prosperous leadership abilities in program development and implementation to create a positive, healthy community culture. Healthy Cards must have the capability to disseminate information through various means including presentations, tabling, and informal interactions.

JOB Job Category:
Part time not to exceed 19.5 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible and planned around school.
Students who are hired as Peer Health Educators are expected to stay at least two semesters including summer. Peer Health Educators begin their first semester starting in the spring and continuing through the summer and fall.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
   » Current full-time Lamar University student
   » Maintain a minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA
   » Possesses strong verbal expertise and interest in educating peers
   » Able to work with individuals and groups in a leadership abilities capacity
   » capability to openly discuss health related sensitive issues, in a non-judgmental way
   » Proficient in Microsoft Office and Canva
   » Attend and actively participate in training sessions, including:
   » Complete Certified Peer Education training with a certifying exam score of 80% through scheduled trainings at Student Health Center
   » leadership abilities Conference
   » Develop and implement health education programming on campus to raise consciousness and promote discussion, including:
   » Promoting Healthy Cards all over campus
   » Establishing relationships with other student organizations on campus to provide programming and presentations to these organizations or in connection with these organizations
   » Deliver Healthy Cards presentations to student groups
   » Assisting with additional program tasks as assigned
Physical Requirements:
   » The position requires the capability to lift and move event materials/equipment. This position may require long hours spent standing during events. Candidates should be able to stand, walk, and perform job tasks for extended periods.
