Information technology is a regional resource for eastern North Carolina and has assisted in the development of cancer programs in several outlying hospitals. Because of the complexity of these diseases and the rapid development of new therapies, multidisciplinary disease-oriented care is our model. We offer specialized programs in breast cancer, aerodigestive tract malignancy, melanoma, urologic malignancies, hematologic malignancies, benign hematology, and hemostasis. We educate and train young oncologists to be oncology thinkers and not just doers. We are a beacon of the best cancer care and treatment across Eastern North Carolina. Job tasks The Division of Hematology/Oncology is seeking a Research Specialist to work in our clinical trials office. tasks of this position include but are not limited to: preparing trial related documentation, including case report forms and consent documents; assisting the manager with study start-up activities (i.e. obtaining pricing from vendors and completing the services review forms for coverage analysis); assisting after study start-up with maintaining communication with sponsors and with invoicing; organizing IRB committee submissions with follow through to ensure prosperous outcome; scheduling, planning, and organizing start-up meetings and study site initiation meetings for clinical trials as directed by the PI or manager; tracking and completing case report forms and set up systems whereby forms are completed timely to avoid deviation from the protocol; ensuring that queries generated all over assigned clinical trials are responded to in a timely fashion; maintaining project files and regulatory binders; assisting the manager in ordering supplies, office supplies and medical supplies for our research clinic; developing and maintaining the division RedCap Quality and Research database; assisting in the preparation of custom reports/presentations at the direction of the manager or clinical trials director from RedCap and OnCore (Clinical Trials Management System); assisting with the building and maintenance of OnCore calendars. OnCore is a clinical trials management system purchased by the university and assists with the maintenance and reporting requirements for clincialtrials.gov.
