KERA, the public media organization of North Texas, is seeking a talented, detail-oriented Grants professional to help support the multi-media programs, content, equipment, and operational needs across the organization through securing funds from foundations, federal and state government agencies, and public media sources.

KERA reaches more than 4.5 million people monthly through KERA TV, KERA News, KXT, WRR, KERA Arts, and the Denton Record-Chronicle. POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director, Grants & Foundations and working closely with the senior leadership abilities team, the Grants Specialist coordinates with all departments, as appropriate, to develop strategic applications and proposals for meeting revenue goals located on the Board-approved KERA strategic plan and annual budget.

Revenue raised by this position helps to support 1) TV and radio content for local, regional, state, and national distribution, 2) the purchase of equipment for broadcast and operations such as computers, servers, antennas, switches, cameras and editing equipment, 3) community engagement and educational services, 4) digital media design, applications and content, and 5) branding and audience development. The overall objective is to annually raise a minimum of $1,300,000 in revenue.

This is a full-time, FLSA classified non-exempt position, which is eligible for overtime.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

   » Acquire and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the mission, vision, services, content and strategic funding priorities of KERA.
   » Interface with a broad band of constituents, including Board of Directors, community and business leaders, internal staff, subject matter experts, members, and grant-making entities.
   » Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors and prospects.
   » Maintain an existing portfolio of funding sources that include private foundations, corporate foundations, state and federal government, community organizations, public media specific sources, and high net-worth individuals.
   » Complete grant applications, LOIs, and impact reports, adhering to stated requirements and deadlines.
   » Write custom proposals for Major Gifts donors located on stated interests.
   » Present complex information in one-on-one and large group settings.
   » Support community engagement and special events, which will require some evenings and weekend hours.
   » Prepare budgets that support program needs.
   » Perform other tasks as required.

   » 3+ years of writing prosperous grant proposals for a variety of foundation, government, and corporate grant-making entities.
   » Previous practice working with nonprofit fundraising.
   » Strong written communications expertise and capability to write and edit succinct, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
   » Advanced command of proper grammar and spelling with keen attention to detail.
   » Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospects.
   » Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
   » Able to monitor and meet revenue goals.
   » Excellent computer expertise including research, donor database entry, word processing and spreadsheets.

income RANGE:
$65,000-$75,000 annually depending on practice

Job location:
We expect that this position will work out of our office at least 25% of the time (equivalent to ~1 day/wk).
