Position DetailsPosition InformationPosting Number: 2022119 Classification Title: Position Title: Instructor of Management Information Systems FTE: 1.0 FLSA: income: Commensurate Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function: The College of Business at Lamar University is actively seeking candidates for an instructor in the field of Management Information Systems (MIS). This nine-month appointment at the rank of Instructor is set to commence in August 2024. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, income negotiable on qualifications and practice. What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities » Teaching software-intensive MIS courses, both on-campus and online, across our BBA, MBA, and MS in MIS programs. A strong interest in teaching SAP-enabled MIS courses is essential. Must have the capability to teach graduate and undergraduate MIS courses, including Business Intelligence, E-Commerce, Systems Analysis and Design, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity Management, and Python Programming » Service demonstrated by active participation in department, college, and university committees Key Competencies: »Knowledge of Management Information Systems (MIS): » Deep knowledge of MIS concepts, theories, and principles. » Proficiency in areas such as database management, systems analysis, business intelligence, and information technology. »Teaching Special Skills: » capability to effectively convey complex MIS concepts to undergraduate and graduate students. » Skill in developing course materials, syllabi, and assessments. » Proficiency in employing various teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, case studies, and hands-on exercises. » Capacity to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills in students. »Technical Special Skills: » Proficiency in significant programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and software tools commonly used in MIS practice. » Familiarity with database management systems (DBMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and other MIS technologies. » capability to integrate emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and blockchain into MIS curricula and research projects. »Communication Special Skills: » Excellent oral and written communication skills for effectively presenting ideas, concepts. »leadership abilities and Teamwork: » Capcapability to work collaboratively within academic departments and interdisciplinary teams. » leadership abilities skills in guiding student organizations, or academic committees. » Capacity to contribute to departmental initiatives, curriculum development, and accreditation processes. »Professional Development: » Commitment to continuing professional development through scholarly activities, conferences, workshops, and continuing education.
