Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Strategist position for the academic success center at Oregon State University (OSU).

Strategists are student employees who support OSU students on their path to academic success by?
   » asking questions to understand students' academic goals and challenges
   » listening without judgment
   » connecting students to campus resources
   » introducing learning strategies and tools
   » answering quick questions
   » and more!
When Information technology comes to learning and academic success in college, there's no one-size-fits-all strategy. Everyone has unique strengths, talents, and needs. At the Academic Success Center (ASC) , we believe in each student's capability to set goals and decide their best path towards achieving those goals. The ASC includes a number of programs and offerings, including drop-in support (Strategist program), Academic Coaching, Supplemental Instruction (group study tables), workshops, ALS 116: Academic Success (2-credit course), and our online Learning Corner.

Conversations with Strategists happen in our bustling Waldo 125 drop-in space, via Live Chat on our website, over the phone, and through email communication. Each Strategist works in the Academic Success Center in Waldo 125 for approximately 6-12 hours per week depending on their schedule and desired work hours. Paid training will begin during winter break, and regular shifts will begin in winter 2025. prosperous candidates are expected to work all over the rest of the 2024-2025 academic year.

Support and Compensation: Strategists' wages start at $15.15 per hour, and they receive annual pay increases. Strategists receive substantial paid training before starting the function and attend paid weekly staff meetings to discuss various topics and problem solve collectively as a team. Employees also get many opportunities to build additional transferrable expertise all over employment at the ASC depending on their unique interests.

Position tasks
   » Have consultations with visitors to lgain about their unique needs, offer personalized referrals, and help them plan their next steps. (40%)
   » Complete admin and project work, including maintaining the ASC drop-in space and planning promotional events. (40%)
   » Engage in professional development activities, including attending weekly staff meetings. (20%)

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
