Job Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Research Analyst 3 position for the College of Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU).

This position leads the data procurement and data analysis needs of the College of Engineering (CoE) Administrators and leadership abilities to facilitate College goal setting and assessment. This position gathers, compiles, cleans, analyzes, and interprets data and statistical information for CoE. This position develops and contributes to the development of qualitative and quantitative research designs, including data collection instruments and procedures, and applies computer tools and statistical measures in their work. This position analyzes data and patterns across multiple areas of CoE and communicates the results of analyses and interpretations in oral, narrative, and graphical form for the purpose of data-informed decision-making, planning, and assessment. This position also develops methods to help streamline processes and decision-making. The position will collaborate and partner with the University Information and Technology (UIT) data group to address data needs and gain a better knowledge of the university's data environment. This position recommends decisions to CoE administrators located on their continuing data analysis and tracking.

Key Responsibilities 50% Data Collection, Processing and Procedure development
   » Consult with users to identify and document routine and custom data reporting needs and purposes.
   » Collect data from various OSU and external systems, including but not limited to data from or about: College employment assignments and workload (including student employees), research expenditures, research productivity, website and social media traffic, CRM, admissions processes (Slate), alumni interactions, College event attendance, space usage, student progression, course enrollments, research proposal data, expenditures.
   » Clean data for internal analysis. Collaborate or coordinate in line with university definitions, standards, and data practices.
   » Develop and implement strategies to enhance the accessibility of data across the organization. This includes ensuring data is organized and stored in a manner that allows easy retrieval, knowledge, and use by all significant stakeholders. Work to eliminate barriers that may hinder access to data for stakeholders.
   » Prepare statistical forecasts and explain significance to CoE leadership abilities and other stakeholders.
   » Present results of analyses for CoE leadership abilities.
   » Maintain documentation of data requests and results, and organize reports, data and queries in system archies.
   » Support College leadership abilities in accessing and managing custom reports in Academic Analysis.
   » Design mechanisms for ready access to data through dashboards.
   » Build models and dashboards to support continuing decision-making in the college.
   » Manage College data and data processes that may not be available centrally, such as advisor-advisee data, graduate status, awards, GTA, and ULA course assignments for use in dashboards.
   » Design and manage processes and methods for tracking and informing budget allocations across the college.
   » Design and manage processes for training ULAs and GTAs.
   » Design and manage processes for reviewing ULA and GTA support.

40% Analysis and Research Projects
   » Summarize and analyze data via summary tables, graphs, charts, statistics, and narrative reports, noting significant trends, outliers, and forecasts.
   » Analyze, evaluate and use data to identify savings, reducing costs and improving operations.
   » Uses data analysis to drive process improvements and develop and improve efficiencies in the College.
   » Identify, plan, and organize research projects and assessment projects.
   » Develop strategies for the College located on data analyses.

10% Professional Development, Service, and Other tasks as Assigned.
   » Engage in professional development activities to stay current regarding emerging technology and be effective at assigned responsibilities.
   » Provide service to OSU by working on College and University committees.
What We Require
Two years of research practice independently gathering, compiling, and analyzing data using statistical methods (inferential, multivariate analysis, etc.); using statistical software packages to manipulate the data; and preparing narrative or statistical reports and college-level course in statistics (at least six quarter hours); OR An equivalent combination of training and practice. Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses. Please highlight the statistical courses.NOTE: Some agencies may require practice in using trends (such as social, economical, industrial, etc.).

   » Excellent written and oral communication expertise related to interpreting customer needs and translating those into data solutions.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq.
