We strive to be an anchor in our community that listens deeply, surfaces untold stories, presents fact-located information that builds consciousness, empathy and engagement among the diverse communities we serve. While we carry certain NPR shows and headlines, our focus is to connect and inform our listeners with hyperlocal news stories, showcase local arts and cultural organizations and events, support area nonprofits and businesses, promote tourism across the region and provide emergency first response information and resources. Position Overview: KPCW is seeking a dynamic and practiced Managing Editor / Writer to help craft our news product across all platforms. The ideal candidate will have a passion for journalism, strong leadership abilities expertise and an knowledge of local and regional issues. Reporting to the News Director, the Managing Editor / Writer will help lead the newsroom and everyday news coverage, ensuring KPCW delivers timely, accurate and compelling content across all platforms. Key Job responsibilities: - Prioritize the everyday flow of the newsroom to ensure timely filing of news stories to meet strict everyday newscast deadlines - Help develop and guide everyday news coverage and editorial agenda - Lead editing efforts for news content, ensuring accuracy, clarity and adherence to journalistic standards - Develop and help implement editorial strategies to enhance news coverage and audience engagement - Monitor news trends, social media and audience feedback to adapt and improve coverage - Join KPCW at community events, meetings and other public forums - Maintain ethical standards and foster a culture of integrity and professionalism within the newsroom Appropriate qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or a related field - Minimum of 5 years of practice in a newsroom environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership abilities function - Proven track record of producing high-quality news content - Strong editorial judgment and knowledge of journalistic principles and ethics - Excellent written and verbal communication expertise - capability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines - Proficiency with AP Style - Proficiency with digital news platforms and social media - Familiarity with issues and topics significant to Park City, Summit County, Heber and Wasatch County and the broader Utah region is preferred. advantages: - Competitive income - Health insurance - Retirement plan - Paid time off and holidays - Opportunities for professional development and growth Organization: KPCW Job Job location: Park City, UT United States Job Job Category: Editing Deadline: Friday, October 4, 2024 Employment Type: Full time Send Application Materials To: Application Process: Please send a resume, cover letter and references to E-Mail: jobs@kpcw.org with the subject line "Managing Editor / Writer Application.?
