Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Weed Science Research Technician for the Horticulture Department at Oregon State University (OSU).

This position will consist of field and lab research at the Hyslop Research Farm which is located approximately 7 miles from the OSU Corvallis campus. This is a great opportunity to assist with USDA-ARS weed science research that focuses on finding solutions for weed management in grass seed production systems. Hired technicians will gain professional practice conducting field experiments and collecting data in weed science studies in grass seed production systems and will work independently as well as alongside USDA-ARS researchers.

Position tasks Tasks will be varied and will likely include setting up and maintaining grass seed production trials (irrigation, hand weeding, etc.), collecting digital images of plants in grass seed fields, collecting plants or plant parts, processing samples, assisting researchers with running small-plot experiments and other tasks, assisting with equipment calibration, and assisting with collecting and entering research data. Detailed instructions will be provided for all tasks and work may need to be performed individually or as a member of a team.

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
