Overview:
   » The Academic Coaching Graduate adjunct (ACGA) works within the Student Tutoring and Retention Services (STARS) academic support programs. Academic Coaching provides a structured, collaborative approach to support students. Information technology is intended to increase a student's capability to become a more self-directed learner by identifying learning strategies and academic resources that best match the student's individual needs. Academic Coaches provide individualized guidance and continuing feedback to students all over the semester.

General Description:
   » The ASGA supports the Academic Coaching Program Specialist with everyday operations and supervision of student Academic Coaches, developing and delivering content for training and classroom presentations, and facilitating the observation of student employees working in the program to provide constructive feedback. Additional projects may be assigned as needed.
   » The ideal candidate will be student-focused, organized, and detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal communication expertise. The candidate must have the capability to handle confidential data with discretion and tact while working independently and in a team environment. The ideal candidate should have practice presenting information to small and large groups; public speaking is an essential skill for this function.
Essential Functions
   » The ACGA conducts program-related research including data collection, analysis, and reporting to assist with the development of system improvements and helps with the preparation, coding, and analysis of semester surveys.
   » Assist with reviewing, planning, and developing materials for sessions, meetings, and overall academic coaching program. Assist in evaluating and enhancing the delivery of services.
   » Conduct program-related research, including collecting, organizing, and analyzing data and presenting findings.
   » Track student data to analyze program efficacy.
   » Utilize data to identify necessary processes, systems, and improvements for effective program operation.
   » Track student progress all over the semester and in subsequent semesters.
   » Administer and supervise the administration of the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI).
Supervision and Administration

   » Support everyday program operations, including promoting services and resources, assisting with scheduling, answering student questions, and supervising student employees.
   » Conduct student-employee interviews.
   » Comple other tasks as assigned by the program specialist.
Training and Instruction

   » Present training/professional development to new and returning academic coaches.
   » Observe academic coaching sessions and provide feedback to student employees.

Communication
   » Meet regularly with the program specialists to discuss program objectives and needs.
   » Communicate with student-employee team members.
   » Promote student consciousness of all programs/services offered.
   » Participate in outreach and tabling events.

   » Visual acuity to read written or printed text on screens or paper.
   » capability to communicate effectively verbally and/or through writing.

   » capability to lift and move objects no heavier than 10 pounds.
