Position Summary: adjunct Professor of Teaching of Exercise, Sport and Movement Sciences (ESMS) within the College of Health Sciences (CHS). A teaching load of 5 course sections (15 credit hours) per semester is expected. Courses may include Introduction to ESMS, Resistance and Aerobic Training Applications, Exercise Physiology, Advanced Strength Training and Conditioning, Exercise and Special Populations. Supervision of student interns is expected and would take the place of a portion of the teaching load. Although primarily a teaching position, service to the college, university, and profession is expected.

Minimum Position Appropriate qualifications: A minimum of an earned Master's degree is required in Exercise Science or a related area of study. The capability to teach lower and upper division ESMS undergraduate courses (e.g., Introduction to ESMS, Resistance and Aerobic Training Applications, Exercise Physiology, Advanced Strength Training and Conditioning, Exercise and Special Populations) is required. Current NSCA® Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist certification is strongly desired or certification in any or all of the following: ACSM® Certified Exercise Physiologist, ASEP® Exercise Physiology Certified, USAW Level 1 or 2 Coach. Effective oral and written communication expertise are strongly desired.

Special Conditions: The position is a full-time, non-tenure track, academic-year appointment with opportunities for paid summer teaching. The University offers an excellent benefits package, and the State of Tennessee has no state earnings tax. Memphis and the surrounding areas maintain a very low cost of living relative to most parts of the country. The anticipated date of employment is on or before August 19, 2024.
