Position Summary Information

Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function:
The Engagement and Outreach Coordinator reports to the Lamar University Police Sergeant superviseing our campus community engagement and outreach initiatives. This position creates lesson plans, and resource documents, and prepares thorough presentations utilizing PowerPoint, various technologies, and media to educate students, faculty, staff, and visitors about safety-related topics. This position is also responsible for collecting data related to federal and state-mandated reporting of educational efforts. Additionally, this function coordinates and collaborates with other LU departments and student groups to create educational events and programming on campus.

What You'll Do - Position Job responsibilities:
   » Create lesson plans, presentations, and resource materials and teach various safety-
related topics to the Lamar University community.
   » Support LUPD at various events by providing security, distributing information, guiding
visitors, and engaging with parents and potential students.
   » Participate in all tabling, programming, and special events to support the educational
initiatives of LUPD.
   » Coordinate and collaborate with other departments to create events and positive
educational programming on campus.
   » Collect educational data related to federal and state reporting mandates.

   » Able to work in both a group setting and alone with minimum supervision Availcapability to work varied shifts, mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
   » capability to work quickly, effectively, and responsibly without constant direction
   » Comfortable working with college-age students and potential students
Physical Requirements:
   » Able to lift 40 lbs. and be able to execute a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.
   » Essential functions or requirements listed above may not be performed in every position with this title, and these essential functions may not include all related tasks that might be requested and/or performed.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
   » Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study
   » 1 year of practice teaching safety-related topics to young adults, college students, staff, and faculty. This includes creating lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, and resource documents, as well as covering large crowds and audiences in a professional setting. practice with curriculum development is also required
