Senior Interior Designer | Project Lead

Overview:
Nwankpa Design is searching for a full-time contract position for a senior interior designer with a strong architectural background. The position is a 6-12 month project lead position with potential for longer term collaboration. This is a primarily work-from-home position with flexible scheduling, but candidates must be located in the greater Los Angeles area to attend in-person meetings and site visits.
This is a full-time contract position and prior practice working between interior design and architecture is needed. The ideal candidate will be able to navigate seamlessly from the larger architectural problem to an intimate furnishing detail. A minimum of 4 years of practice with high-end single-family custom homes is mandatory. practice with commercial, cultural, and hospitality projects is a plus.
Job responsibilities:
   » capability to lead a high-end residential design project while coordinating vision with the design principal and directing junior designers in design development.
   » Developing design concepts, spatial layouts, and client presentations.
   » Strong sense of materials, including the capability to research fabrication implications of selections.
   » Detailing architectural drawings, casework, and furniture designs to a high level of competency.
   » Creating 3D modeling and renderings and/or collaborating with other designers to direct their development.
   » Project coordination, client meetings, presentations, site visits, full-scale mockups, FFE selection, purchasing, installation, etc. You will be involved in all aspects of the projects you work on.
   » Direct coordination with the construction team during the Construction Admin Phase.
   » Working with the team closely. ND collaborators have a great deal of autonomy in the completion of their work but will need to also stay connected to the team.
   » Contributing to a creative and friendly office environment.
Qualifications Needed:
   » Self-starters capable of managing projects while multi-tasking; we like people who bring ideas to the table.
   » A penchant for follow-through on projects, requiring minimal supervision. capability to proactively ask questions and plan own workflow.
   » Strong organizational expertise with excellent time management abilities.
   » Computer proficiency in a variety of programs including computer modeling and rendering is mandatory and proficiency in Autodesk Revit preferred.
   » practice with custom furniture and lighting fixture design and fabrication is mandatory.
   » practice with the design, sourcing, specification, procurement, and installation phases is mandatory.
   » practice working in interior design and architecture firms with similar types and high quality of work is mandatory.
   » capability to work with a variety of personalities is valuable.
   » Possess a sophisticated and well-informed approach to contemporary design and materials.
   » Must have a positive and collaborative attitude and a joyful approach to design.
   » practice seeing projects into and/or through construction.
Our ideal candidate holds a degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited institution. We offer commensurate pay located on practice. Depending on the practice level, the pay may range from $55-65/hr.
