Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function:

The Department of Biology at Lamar University invites applications for a tenure track adjunct Professor in botany beginning August 2025. A demonstrated capability or potential for establishing a vigorous, externally funded, research program, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and effective teaching are essential requirements. Candidates having active, interdisciplinary research agendas using cutting-edge approaches to examine taxonomic, physiological, or ecological level studies in plants are encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities are a junior level course in botany twice yearly, develop and teach an upper level and graduate courses in their area of skills, and may also include instruction in a lower-level course as needed. The prosperous candidate will actively engage undergraduate, graduate, and underrepresented students in their envisioned research program. Collaborations within the department, across other academic units, and external agencies in acquiring external funding is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to execute a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.
