Employment Category Regular Job Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (approximately 30 hours per week) Education Program adjunct 1position for the Division of Extension and Engagement's Family and Community Health Program at Oregon State University (OSU). This is a limited duration appointment expected to last approximately 1 year from the appointment begin date. This position will be located in Portland, Oregon. This position works with the SNAP-ED and EFNEP Latin Heritage Cultural Workgroup project serving Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties, and has a priority designation for working with Spanish speaking audiences through the utilization of bilingual/bi-literate/bi-cultural expertise. Due to funding, OSU will not sponsor immigration work authorization for this position (e.g. H-1B, etc.). The EPA1 will: » Offer programs and classes to Spanish and English-speaking audiences that promote healthy eating habits and physically active lifestyles to individuals and families. » Work with community partners like schools, food banks and pantries, and other non-profit organizations. This will require driving/travel to various county sites to deliver programming. » Be part of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed) and Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) Program teams, supervised by the FCH Unit Manager. This EPA1 assists the Managing Faculty Member with designing, developing, maintaining and/or carrying out educational programming and outreach activities to serve broad and diverse populations in an accessible, inclusive, equitable, and socially just manner. This includes complying with Civil Rights and Language/Visual Access regulations. The division has built the capacity and expectation for employees to use digital communications and technologies in the modern-day workplace. About Nutrition Education Programs (SNAP-Ed and EFNEP) The Education Program adjunct 1 position is part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed) Program, a federally funded nutrition education program targeting SNAP eligible audiences, and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), a federal nutrition education program targeting families with young children. Interventions include hands-on learner-centered direct education in both programs, as well as community-located work related to policy, systems, and environmental change as part of SNAP-Ed. Programs are designed to promote healthy eating habits and a physically active lifestyle. Funding is provided in part by USDA's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) through a contract with Oregon Department of Human Services, and through EFNEP federal funds .
