Job Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Temporary Education Program adjunct 1 position for the Division of Extension and Engagement's Family and Community Health Program at Oregon State University (OSU). This position will be located in Eugene, Oregon.

This full-time temporary (June 24 - October 31, 2024) Education Program adjunct 1 (EPA) supports the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed) Program. SNAP-Ed is a nutrition education program in Extension Family and Community Health (FCH) affiliated with OSU's College of Health. The EPA serves Lane County and is located at the OSU Extension Lane County office in Eugene, Oregon. This position has a priority designation for working with Spanish speaking audiences through the utilization of bilingual/bi-literate/bi-cultural expertise.

Extension educators provide evidence-located interventions through SNAP-Ed, a nutrition education and physical activity programs targeting SNAP eligible audiences. Programs are designed to promote healthy eating habits and a physically active lifestyle. All programming is done in collaboration with community partners, such as schools, food banks and pantries, farmers markets and government and non-profit agencies. Funding is provided in part by USDA's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) through a contract with Oregon Department of Human Services.

The EPA will work under the supervision of the SNAP-Ed Managing Faculty Member for Lane County and will support implementation of Food Hero culinary and nutrition-education activities at Migrant Education Program summer school. This position requires travel to various sites in Lane County.

Key Responsibilities The Education Program adjunct embeds the commitment of the university to inclusive excellence in all interactions and tasks performed and contributes to a safe, welcoming and respectful learning and workplace environment.

60% Program Implementation
Nutrition Education Delivery
Deliver pre-approved, non-credit, Food Hero programs (in Spanish and English) for making/preparing healthy food choices and safe food handling to youth at the Migrant Education Program summer school in Lane County. This will require driving/travel to a site to deliver programming. The position will use OSU Extension Service/SNAP-Ed approved curricula, materials and information.

Prepare and deliver lessons from preapproved curriculum and programs to youth populations in an inclusive and culturally responsible manner.

20% Nutrition Education - Planning, Preparing, and Evaluating
Assist in preparation of instructional supplies needed for classes. Assist in assembling materials needed for classes and other nutrition education activities. Programming preparation performed primarily Monday - Friday.

Set up, tear down, and clean up after class. Purchase appropriate materials for educational activities, including ingredients for food preparation and tasting.

Engage youth and Migrant Education Program community members in a culturally responsive manner.

Contribute to equity, inclusion, and diversity as part of educational delivery, advising, and service. Outputs and impacts of efforts to promote equity, inclusion, and diversity should be included in quarterly and annual reports for the unit.

15% Nutrition Education Program Records
Data collection including but not limited to tracking class/event attendance, demographics; data entry in SNAP-Ed reporting system.

Process reimbursements for personal vehicle mileage for work travel and supplies purchased; provide other data/statistical information/records as requested.

5% Meetings & Trainingsand Other tasks
Attend in-service and professional development training programs including but not limited to SNAP-Ed and the Migrant Education Program.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

What We Require
High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two years of significant practice (paid or volunteer), supporting community programs that serve children, youth, or adults OR Associate Degree and one year of work practice (paid or volunteer) which must be working in youth development programs, adult education, teaching, program delivery or related functions. AND Demonstrated oral and written communication expertise. Demonstrated skill to work with diverse audiences. Demonstrated skill to use computers for word processing, data management, and communications. Incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal background check and be deemed fit for duty at placement and while serving in the position.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule Access to a vehicle is necessary as tasks will require driving/travel to various sites in Lane county to deliver the programs and transporting curriculum materials.
