Mandatory Position This position is designated as ?mandatory' and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the building as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions. Primary Purpose of Position The position is considered to be a fully functioning in a particular trade area. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to execute all general maintenance work. This position may also be given the opportunity to execute/lgain another trade. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components in assigned zone. Minimum Education/practice Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. practice in the trade(s) areas related to the position's function may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Essential Job tasks » Responsible for performing routine maintenance of motors and pumps to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate. » Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair motor electrical control circuits. » Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them by checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary. » Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. » Use expertise and skill with Building Automation Systems (BAS) to complete tasks as needed. » Look up and order parts using Google sheets and drive. Other Work Responsibilities » Work with minimal supervision or instruction, and complete work with a high level of competence and professionalism in compliance with generally accepted trade practices. » Communicate effectively with customers, managers, and provide high quality customer service located on university's policy and procedures. » Record everyday activities into order tracking system (Archibus) using a tablet. » Perform other tasks as assigned and/or delegated, dependent on Zone needs.
