CAFE Peer Mentors meet with prospective, incoming, and current students and their families as well as other members of the Oregon and OSU communities to provide mentorship, advice, and resources on paying for college and basic financial education. CAFE Peer Mentors meet with clients through one-on-one appointments, workshops/presentations, and various projects. This unique practice builds in professional development and team building opportunities as well!

This position is for students who plan to be on the Corvallis campus, including during summer 2025. During the regular academic year (fall 24, winter 25, and spring 25), peer mentors will receive broad training on paying for college and basic financial literacy, eventually taking on the tasks of a CAFE Peer Mentor as competence builds. During the summer, work will focus on supporting incoming families and students, helping them with their college finances. In-person support is required at each in-person START session (typically from late June through early August) and all over the summer. Summer work can be turned into an internship to satisfy degree requirements. It is essential that you are available for most all of the summer 2025 START sessions, in-person .

CAFE is hiring multiple candidates for this function, with a focus on majors from across campus. Consideration for this function goes to students who plan to work in Corvallis for this academic year and over the summer. Students hired must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours a week, with a maximum of 24 hours during any given term of enrollment. During summer, if enrolled less than part-time, students are eligible to work up to 40 hours. Due to broad training requirements, candidates with a minimum of 2 full years left at OSU with an intention of working with CAFE during that time will be prioritized.
