Minimum Position Appropriate qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of practice conducting employee investigations in Human Resources, Title IX or other related capacity. An equivalent combination of education, training and practice may be substituted for the degree requirement. Master's or JD desired.

Special Conditions: First consideration given to UofM employees.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Variable hours from 8:00am-6:00pm, inclusive of extended hours during the week along with occasional weekends, depending on workload.

Working Conditions: While performing the tasks of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Additional Working Conditions: Variable work hours dependent on business needs. Extended hours/weekends during peaks periods. Some travel to other campus sites may be required.

tasks & Job responsibilities: Investigation Management and Reporting:

Investigates complaints of alleged violation of sexual harassment and sexual-gender-located misconduct, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, civil rights and employment policies and prepares investigative reports and communications summarizing the investigation (including significant evidence) or detailing findings and conclusions. Ensures timely processing of all assigned investigations and, whenever possible, that investigations are concluded within the timeframe specified by university policy and/or law, including preparing and maintaining various reports.

Receives complaints and maintains electronic case log of all cases assigned, as well as information, evidence and related materials collected, and completed to ensure timely processing of all assigned investigations.

tasks & Job responsibilities: Training and Development:

Under the direction of the Director, creates and facilitates training/presentations to faculty and staff regarding the University's sexual misconduct and nondiscrimination policies, the employment search process and identifies and integrates best practices into the complaint resolution process. Conducts research on various topics and presents written findings for Director's review.

Assists the Director with requests for information from external agencies including, but not limited to, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Tennessee Human Rights Commission (THRC), and the Office for Civil Rights (OCR). Remains abreast of university, federal, and state policies, rules, regulations and statutes.

Cultivates relationships with campus community and external stakeholders/partners (e.g., students, faculty and staff) and continuously identifies and integrates best practices in all investigations and activities, as well as all areas of responsibilities within the broader scope of this function through participation in professional forums, conferences, training and/or associations.

Serves on University committees as directed by Director.
