Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill five part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week during class sessions and up to 40 hours per week when classes are not in session) Grounds and Maintenance positions for Oregon State University (OSU) Athletics Facility Operations.

This position is for a student to assist the Facilities and Maintenance Team members with routine athletic grounds and maintenance tasks at all athletic venues, and home sporting events. This position will help maintain and set up athletic facilities and department equipment for activities & events connected within Athletics Projects include working directly with the Facilities maintenance team, painting athletic fields, maintaining surface playcapability, and general landscaping tasks. Individuals will complete routine grounds and maintenance tasks, performing general turf work on both natural and artificial surfaces and assisting with small facility projects. This student will receive guidance from the OSU Athletics Facility and Maintenance team.

Position tasks
   » Sets-up/takes-down for both indoor and outdoor activities and events. This includes setting up/taking down things such as fences, bleachers, benches, scoreboards, windscreens, nets, goals, baskets, tables, chairs, lane lines, pole vault runways, high jump pads, wrestling mats, etc.
   » Measures and paints field lines for activities using outdoor fields; measures and tapes court lines on indoor courts.
   » Performs the everyday maintenance of the softball and baseball infields as well as the long jump/steeplechase pits. This includes dragging infields, raking pitcher's mounds (natural and artificial)/bullpens/home plates/baselines/pits, watering, bailing water, installing plates, etc.
   » Performs general landscaping, blowing leaves, weeding beds, mowing, edging.
   » Assembles, performs basic maintenance and troubleshoots problems with equipment. This includes assembling cabinets, ball carriers, carts, etc., and maintaining basketball backboards, rims, batting cages, nets, goal nets, windscreens, etc. Informs manager of need for equipment repair.
   » Helps maintenance staff to hang TV's, paint, change light bulbs, move items, etc.
   » Operates department vehicles which include a pick-up truck, vans, field markers, and utility vehicle. As part of basic maintenance of these vehicles, performs general cleaning, checks oil, fills window-washer fluid, adjusts tire pressure, fills gas tank, greases exposed joints, etc. Informs manager of problems connected with the vehicles.
   » General maintenance like painting and hanging equipment

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
