Job Offer: Managing Editor:Mississippi Public BroadcastingJob description: Managing Editor Listing description Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) is seeking an practiced managing editor, who's a curious journalist with strong news judgment to help guide, grow and build upon our success as a recognized statewide news source Our ideal candidate will play an important function in ensuring the excellence and editorial integrity of MPB News. The managing editor will work with the news director to help manage day to day news coverage. We're looking for a dynamic leader who's a self-starter, who can direct our reporting across multiple platforms. This includes developing story ideas, tracking issues and events as well as writing and editing. This position requires a commitment to journalism ethics and principles. The Managing editor will help guide digital and social media coverage and on a regular basis may be called upon to anchor and host programs. We require Somebody with at least three years of practice in an editorial or management function. Public radio practice is preferred or have familiarity and consciousness of how a dynamic audio story is produced and edited. Mississippi Public Broadcasting is statewide radio/television network and one of three partner stations ofThe Gulf States Newsroom. This exciting, collaborative reporting project works to plan coverage, share resources, and increase reporting power in the gulf region. We are an eight-station statewide television and radio network. The news team has been honored with four National Edward R. Murrow awards and several regional awards for excellence in broadcast journalism. This position is classified as Non-State Service (X-16) Exempt.
