Lamar University is a state-supported institution with over 17,000 students located in Beaumont, Texas, close to the Gulf of Mexico and 90 minutes from Houston. A part of the College of Arts and Sciences, the department offers undergraduate degrees in Biology and Environmental Science, as well as a Master's degree in Biology. candidates must possess an earned doctorate in the biological sciences. A documented record of scholarship, including funded external grants and publications, is required for this senior level appointment. Prior administrative practice is strongly preferred. candidates should have a documented record of leadership abilities, as well as strong interpersonal skills. Anticipated state date is Fall 2025. What You'll Do - Position Job responsibilities: » Supervise departmental operations (personnel, scheduling, budget). » Interface with upper administration and other university entities. » Implement effective teaching strategies. » Actively participate in academic service at the department, college, and university levels. » Maintain an active research agenda that includes publication of research papers in peer-reviewed journals and/or submission of research grants. Physical Requirements: Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to execute a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.
