Min Hourly Rate $14.20 (Standard); $13.20 (Non-Urban); $15.45 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.00 (Standard); $18.50 (Non-Urban); $21.50 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Technical adjunct for the COMES Newport at Oregon State University (OSU). The Aquaculture Project adjunct will evaluate aspects of innovative Pacific dulse and sea urchin culture systems in an effort to refine production methods. This position is located at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon. Position tasks The Aquaculture Project adjunct will help researchers optimize culture parameters for sea urchins and Pacific dulse in land-located tanks. This position will be responsible for seaweed and sea urchin husbandry at HMSC, and assist with experiment set-up, water-quality monitoring, data collection, and data entry. In addition, the Aquaculture Project adjunct will perform basic biological laboratory activities, lab cleaning, and organization. 20%: Perform everyday activities connected with seaweed and sea urchin husbandry. 15%: Set up experimental systems. 30%: Perform seaweed and sea urchin growth trials. 20%: Enter, format, and analyze data; write reports. 10% Conduct laboratory activities, such as water quality analyses, preservation of samples, and preparation of nutrient additions. 5%: Assist with general lab upkeep, cleanliness, and other tasks as assigned.
