This position is designated as ?mandatory' and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.

Primary Purpose of Position This is a Facility Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Trades) with a specialty in HVAC. The position is to be a fully functioning in HVAC. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to execute all general maintenance work. This position may also be given the opportunity to execute/lgain another trade discipline. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components in assigned zone or core maintenance.

Minimum Education/practice Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. practice in the trade(s) areas related to the position's function may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

University Preferred Appropriate qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years practice. practice in the trade(s) areas related to the position's function may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Essential Job tasks
   » Responsible for assessment of Housing conditions and performing proper resolution methods.
   » Assist Advanced level technician in the repair and installation of Housing systems, focusing on the operation and maintenance Chillers, AHUs, Heat Pumps, PTACs, FCUs, and Mini-Split. Responsible for performing routine maintenance to ensure that Housing systems continue to run smoothly, systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of Housing components do not deteriorate.
   » Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot control circuits.
   » Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
   » Record everyday activities in an order tracking system (Archibus).
Other Work Responsibilities
   » Provide assistance with other facility maintenance technicians.
   » Work with supervision or instruction, and complete work with competence and professionalism in compliance.
   » Communicate effectively with customers, and managers, and provide high-quality customer service located on University policy and procedures.
   » Perform other tasks as assigned and/or delegated to support all operations.
Departmental Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education
   » High school diploma or GED equivalency.
   » capability to demonstrate proficient expertise in commercial HVAC Systems.
   » Minimum 2 years of work practice in the installation, maintenance, repair of HVAC and refrigeration equipment specializing in chillers/cooling towers.
   » E.P.A. 608 Refrigerant certification preferred.
   » capability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension) required.
   » Effective expertise in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
   » Computer literate.
   » expertise and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and availability to lgain new programs.
   » capability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds.
   » capability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
   » Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to execute the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
