Primary Purpose of Department The Office of University Development's primary purpose is to build philanthropic relationships that engage alumni, donors, students, faculty and the community in supporting the University's mission. These efforts include working closely with the donors, governing boards, alumni, friends, community members, foundations and corporations to increase private giving to the University. The Office of University Development is within the division of University Advancement.

Primary Purpose of Position Under the direction of the Executive Director of Development, the Senior Director of Development (SDOD) will be responsible for managing a portfolio of prospects and donors capable of making
$35K+ gifts to the institution, and creating a cohesive, collaborative, and strategic fundraising team. Also, the Senior Director of Development is responsible and accountable in leading the leadership abilities Gift agent team to identify, cultivate, and solicit individual mid-level donors in support of university initiatives and priorities.

Summary of Position Responsibilities The SDOD works in collaboration with the Dean of the Belk College of Business and maintains a personal portfolio of 125 - 150 individuals capable of making commitments of $35K+. The
SDOD employs a strategic moves management program to ensure movement along with development donor continuum pipeline. Leading by example, the SDOD will train, develop, and
manage performance for a team of leadership abilities Gifts agents and work closely with the Executive Director of Development, university and college leadership abilities to meet fundraising goals.

The SDOD responsibilities include:
   » Lead fundraising efforts for the Belk College of Business and collaborate with the Dean to maximize their effectiveness in fundraising for approved initiatives.
   » Manage performance, train, and mentor the leadership abilities Gift agents.
   » Assist the Executive Director of Development with the establishment and deployment of metrics and measures to evaluate goal completion and performance.
   » Lead or assist, as appropriate, the process for the development of briefings, proposals, materials, and presentations needed to coordinate prosperous cultivation and solicitation of alumni and non-alumni friends.
   » Promote the University's priorities and image to constituents.
   » Serve as a front-line Major Gift agent to raise philanthropic dollars for University and unit goals and objectives.
   » Maintain a current body or expertise about the University's development and campus-wide priorities.
   » Collaborate with other teams within University Advancement, particularly Planned Giving, Annual Giving, Prospect Strategy & Research, Donor Relations, Alumni Engagement, and University Communications.
   » Ensure compliance with fundraising policies, goals, and procedures.
Minimum Education/practice
   » Bachelor's degree required.
   » Master's degree preferred.
   » Minimum of five years in fundraising.
   » Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts with a documented record of productivity.
