Primary Purpose of Position Working across two expansive library facilities, the Collections Maintenance and Offsite Manager
maintains, evaluates, directs, plans tasks and responsibilities, and serves as the library's
expert for the work of the J. Murrey Atkins Library Collections Maintenance Unit. The Collections Maintenance Unit maintains the integrity and accessibility of library collections across two library facilities: Atkins Library and the library's Offsite Storage Facility. Combined, the two facilities house a physical collection consisting of approximately 3 million print, multimedia, and microform items. Prioritizing work located on library and patron needs, the Collections Maintenance and Offsite Manager supervises numerous essential functions taking place in Atkins Library and the library's offsite storage space such as: supervising all full and part-time Collections Maintenance team members and student employees, managing the collection and the everyday activities of the unit, superviseing delivery of items between Atkins Library and the offsite storage space, and reporting and planning for space needs of library collections. This position also maintains current and specialized expertise necessary to direct the work of Collections Maintenance, including ensuring

Minimum Education/practice Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of practice in a library or archives and/or records management; or high school and five years of practice in a library or archives and/or records management; or equivalent combination of training and practice.

University Preferred Appropriate qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of practice in a library or archives and/or records management; or high school and six years of practice in a library or archives and/or records management; or equivalent combination of training and practice.

Essential Job tasks
   » Maintains, evaluates, directs, plans tasks and responsibilities.
   » Serves as the library's expert for the work of the J. Murrey Atkins Library Collections Maintenance Unit across two facilities: J. Murrey Atkins Library and the library's offsite storage facility.
   » Ensures everyday work of Collections maintenance staff is completed.
   » Overseas delivery of items between J. Murrey Atkins Library and the library's offsite storage facility.
   » Leads in the development of procedures, standards, and best practices for Collections Maintenance.
   » Regularly analyzes, prepares, and presents data and information regarding collection needs and available shelving space within Atkins Library and offsite storage space.
   » Manages all personnel activities of the Collections Maintenance team, including hiring, scheduling, training, supervision, and evaluation of full-time, part-time, and student employees working within Atkins Library and the library's offsite storage space.
