Posting DetailsPosition InformationPosting Number: 20112976 Position Title: Director, University Studies FTE: 1.0 Employment type: Staff Department: University Studies Position Summary Information Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function: The Director of University Studies is a full-time professional staff position responsible for program direction and oversight related to professional staff and initiatives concerning the Department of University Studies. This includes a high level of organization, communication, and a range of directive responsibilities. What You'll Do - Position Job responsibilities: » Manage and supervise all administrative functions for the Department of University Studies advising unit; hire, train, mentor, and supervise all office personnel and promote their performance; complete, approve, and process needed employment forms, documents, access requests, and evaluations for full- and part-time advising staff and student adjuncts. » Coordinate with Associate Dean of Research and Retention regarding departmental planning, development, training, problem-solving, and reporting; attend conferences as needed. » Establish, review, and revise Departmental policies and procedures, degree plans, and other departmental informational documents for approval, distribution, and publication; coordinate with other campus departments to distribute and publish Departmental information and documents; maintain and update Departmental website. » Assist students with resolving unique circumstances, complaints, problems, or needs regarding their advising and academics; review requests for course substitutions and degree exceptions; advise traditional on-campus and online (non-AP) undergraduate students in person, by phone, and/or via email/virtual session as needed; serve a resource person for advising needs, questions, and problems. » Work closely with faculty, staff, and other personnel across the University; serve as Departmental liaison on committees, in meetings, on projects, and at University functions. » supervise all University Studies graduation advising and services for students and collaborate with the Graduation Office regarding graduates for each term; attend Commencement ceremony if needed. » Monitor and maintain a balanced budget and all departmental equipment; review and approve purchases; serve as property custodian for Department. » Represent the Department and participate in University and Department functions; serve on committees and special projects as needed; and perform additional departmental tasks as assigned. Key Competencies: » Superior oral and written communication skills. » Computer proficiency, especially in MS Office applications, Navigate, Degree, Works, and Banner. » High level of organizational and interpersonal skills. » Demonstrated capability to provide high quality customer service to students. » capability to keep accurate, detailed records. » practice in working with students from various backgrounds. » Must be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment. » capability to advocate for staff, faculty, and student needs. Physical Requirements: » Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to execute a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings.
