Mandatory Position This position is designated as ?mandatory' and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the building as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions. Primary Purpose of Position As a Facility Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Trades), this position is fully proficient in a specific trade area and capable of performing all general maintenance work. Additionally, there is also the potential to lgain and perform another trade discipline. The responsibilities may include maintenance, repair, replacement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components within the assigned shop. Minimum Education/practice Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. practice in the trade(s) areas related to the position's function may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Essential Job tasks The FM Mechanical Trades Technician performs under the direction of the Maintenance Operations Plumbing manager. tasks include but are not limited to: » Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components requiring the application of expertise in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety. » Perform routine maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate. » Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary. » The selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to execute the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Other Work Responsibilities » May function as a lead worker and be called upon to provide technical assistance and mentor other facility maintenance technicians, therefore must possess a working expertise of fire, building, electrical, and mechanical codes to maintain compliance with State, Federal, and University regulations and standards. » Work with minimal supervision or instruction, and is expected to complete work with a high level of competence and professionalism in compliance with generally accepted trade practices. » Perform other tasks as assigned and/or delegated to support all operations. Departmental Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education » High school diploma or GED equivalency and at least two years of practice installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial building systems. » Working expertise of commercial plumbing systems and a proven track record in facilities. » Plumbing Journeyman Card or Plumbing Technician License preferred. » Able to foster and create a teamwork-oriented atmosphere. » Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension), and have very good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication expertise. » expertiseable in Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willing to lgain new programs. 6.
