Position Summary Information

Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function:
The Athletics Graphic Designer is responsible for producing high-quality creative designs that align with Lamar University's brand guidelines. Working under the direction of the Associate Director of Creative Services, this position involves conceptualizing and implementing graphics for print and digital media, managing multiple design projects simultaneously, and ensuring consistency across all platforms. Additionally, the Athletics Graphic Designer provides mentorship to the graphic design team, advises on brand identity, and serves as technical support for various departments. The ideal candidate will have a strong design portfolio, practice in project management, and the capability to collaborate effectively in a team environment while maintaining attention to detail.

What You'll Do - Position Job responsibilities:
   »Graphic Design and Content Creation
   » Conceptualize, design, and implement creative graphics and content for
both print and digital media.
   » Work with a wide variety of media using industry-standard design software.
   » Ensure designs are visually appealing, effective for promotion, on-trend,
and consistent with the university's brand guidelines.
   »Project Management and Coordination
   » Build and manage timelines for multiple design projects simultaneously.
   » Write print specifications and retrieve vendor quotes when necessary.
   » Collaborate with team members, including copywriters, photographers,
videographers, designers, web developers, and marketing liaisons, to
deliver projects on time and within budget
   »Brand Identity and Technical Support
   » Serve as a graphic design technical support and brand identity advisor for departments across campus.
   » Create large-scale environmental graphics and take measurements in the field.
   » Maintain technical expertise by attending design workshops and reviewing professional publications and tutorials.
   »Copywriting and Proofreading
   » Proofread and edit copy when necessary to ensure clarity and adherence to
brand guidelines.
   » Assist with writing and editing for print and digital content, maintaining
familiarity with AP style and copywriting standards.
   »Photography and Multimedia Support
   » Provide photography for various projects as needed.
   » Support multimedia efforts, including video and social media content, to
enhance the university's marketing initiatives.

   » Intermediate expertise of Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
   » capability to multitask, work independently, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
   » Creative, detail-oriented, research-driven, and analytical.
   » Strong organizational and time management skills with flexibility.
   » Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading abilities.
   » capability to effectively plan and execute short- and long-term projects that efficiently use resources, meet deadlines, and achieve objectives.
   » Familiarity with print production, social media platforms, and video/photography equipment.
· Strong writing and editing skills, with expertise of AP style and copywriting.
   » capability to work well with students, faculty, and staff in a varied, multi-cultural environment.

Physical Requirements:
   » Able to lift 25 pounds and be able to execute a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings..
Job Conditions:
   » this function is primarily office-located with occasional requirements to attend events or capture media at various campus locations. The position involves working on multiple projects with tight deadlines, requiring a high level of organization and flexibility. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
   » Bachelor's degree in graphic design or marketing communications related field
   » 2-3 years of practice in design and multimedia production
   » Strong design portfolio demonstrating critical thinking, strong concept development, attention to detail, and the capability to carry a design across several mediums
   » practice maintaining, implementing, and working within brand guidelines
   » practice in project management from conception to delivery in a timely manner, on budget, and in collaboration with others
   » practice writing print specifications and preparing files for print.
