This position reports to the Tutoring Services Specialist and interacts often with STAR Services staff as well as occasionally across campus with various departments. tasks: » Assist in the day-to-day operations of Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction (SI) programs » Assist in promoting and marketing programs through social media, emails, phone calls, and campus events » Maintain and update social media » Maintain and create material for Blackboard organization shell » Provide technology support and problem solving for SI Leaders » Assist with creating training materials and providing training » Assist with SI Leader performance observations and feedback » Help with special projects, data, and reports » Support Tutoring Services and STAR Services events » Assist in other tasks as assigned by the Tutoring Services Specialist Pay: $15 per hour Minimum Appropriate qualifications: Required: » Currently enrolled full-time graduate student at Lamar University » 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA » High level organizational expertise » Excellent interpersonal and communication expertise » capability to work with staff, students, and faculty from diverse backgrounds » Demonstrable self-starting initiative Required Documents: » Two recommendation forms completed by professors, advisors, or former managers » Resume » Letter of interest Physical Requirements: » Visual acuity to read written or printed text on screens or paper » capability to communicate effectively verbally and/or through writing » Manual dexterity for writing, typing, and reaching » capability to move safely to and from various buildings across campus » capability to lift and move objects no heavier than 10 pounds Certifications Required: Work Hours: Maximum Hours Per Week 19.5 Job Conditions: Additional Instructions for candidates: EEO Statement: Lamar University is An Equal Opportunity Employer Security Sensitive Statement: This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
