Position DetailsPosition InformationPosting Number: 202299 Classification Title: Position Title: adjunct Professor of Music (Clarinet and Music Education) FTE: 1.0 FLSA: income: Commensurate Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function: The Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music at Lamar University is seeking a highly qualified candidate for adjunct Professor (Applied Clarinet/Music Education) beginning August 2024. Candidates with enthusiasm and a vision to work within a growing department are encouraged to apply. In this position, the prosperous candidate will develop, sustain, and promote the music program with an emphasis on the recruiting and retention of single-reed and double-reed instruments, as well as mentoring students all over their degree. They should demonstrate the capability to work effectively with the department's instrumental ensembles and participate in departmental faculty performances, specifically in collaboration with colleagues. In addition, candidates should be a licensed educator in the state of Texas and be able to teach courses in music education. The prosperous candidate will also demonstrate the capability to work effectively with the department's other instrumental ensembles and will participate in departmental performances and outreach activities, specifically in collaboration with colleagues. The faculty member in this position will be expected to establish a strong regional, national, and international reputation as a teacher and performer. What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities » What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities Teaching responsibilities of the prosperous candidate will include applied clarinet lessons, oversight of applied bassoon and oboe lessons, chamber music coaching, repertoire and pedagogy, and other instructional activities within the candidate's areas of skills, according to the needs of the department. Additional faculty tasks include preparing students for the TExES Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities, student recruitment, creative/scholarly activity, and participation in departmental, college, and university service. The faculty member in this position will collaborate closely with the woodwind faculty in managing the very active chamber music program, the annual Woodwind Festival, and other activities within the woodwind area. The prosperous candidate will assist the department in maintaining positive relationships with area public schools, junior colleges and private instructors. Physical Requirements: » Able to lift 25 lbs. and be able to execute a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.
