Position Summary Information

Position Summary: The adjunct Director of Residence Life is a full time, 12 month professional staff member who resides off-campus and provides visionary leadership abilities and guidance to all residential programs and staff within the Department of Housing, Residence Life and Dining Services. this function is instrumental in enhancing the residential practice by superviseing and supporting programs and initiatives that align with the division's strategic plan. The adjunct Director of Residence Life plays a key function in developing and implementing policies, goals, and objectives that support the mission of the Department of Housing, Residence Life and Dining Services, the Division of Student Affairs and the University as a whole. This position reports directly to the Director of Residence Life.

The adjunct Director of Residence Life provides leadership abilities and supervision to a team of staff members and indirect guidance to student staff. this function also involves close collaboration with departmental and divisional leadership abilities to drive organizational management, program planning, and strategic initiatives. In a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the adjunct Director of Residence Life will champion the vision of Student Affairs at Austin Peay State University, pursuing continuous improvement and innovation in all aspects of residence life. Through collaborative efforts with campus partners, the adjunct Director of Residence Life will contribute to achieving the Division's goals and advancing student success and belongingness.

Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.

Primary tasks and Job responsibilities: managery leadership abilities
· Lead and mentor a team of Coordinators, providing guidance and support for their professional growth and development.
· Craft and implement effective strategies to attract and hire a diverse and talented team of residential life staff, fostering an inclusive and vibrant community.
· Conduct annual performance reviews, employing a strengths-located approach to coach and develop team members, ensuring they excel in their functions.
· Assume leadership abilities of the Residence Life program in the Director's absence, ensuring continuity and excellence in program operations.

Department and Division leadership abilities
· Foster a collaborative relationship with the Director of Residence Life through open communication, shared insights, and proactive problem-solving to enhance the residential and University community.
· Partner with the Director of Residence Life to manage the day-to-day operations and functions of the Residence Life program, ensuring its effectiveness, efficiency, and excellence.
· Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and growth, applying creative solutions to drive improvement, progress, and student engagement.
· Engage in significant professional organizations to enhance continuing development, stay current on best practices, and promote professional growth.
· Serve as a key member of the management team, alongside the Director of Residence Life and central office staff, in devising, executing, and evaluating department strategies, assessment plans, learning results, goals, and programs that promote student success and well-being.
· Provide support and interventions for students classified as at-risk, connecting them with resources and services to ensure their success and well-being.
· Partner with campus stakeholders to develop, support, and assess the Living Learning Community program, promoting a collaborative and student-centered approach to community building and academic success.

Crisis Management and Response
· Administer the Housing/Residence Life judicial system in collaboration with Student Affairs, ensuring consistency with the Student Code of Conduct and promoting a culture of accountcapability and respect.
· Facilitate constructive conversations with students and parents regarding disciplinary matters, housing concerns, student activities, and general student well-being, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
· Provide timely and compassionate 24/7 emergency response in residence halls and campus critical situations, prioritizing student safety and wellbeing.
· Promote an environment of safety and wellbeing through proactive education, intervention, and support, empowering students to make informed choices and thrive in a secure and welcoming community.

Physical Requirements: - Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications: - Master's degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, or a related area.
- Minimum three (3) years of residence life-related management or administrative practice.
