Organizational Unit Overview The Division of Student Affairs comprises over 30 departments, each responsible for providing various student support, services, and educational programs accessible to the university community. The mission of the Department of Campus Living-Residence Life is to provide services and programs for students in the residence halls at East Carolina University. To fulfill this mission, we focus on student development, academic support, counseling, discipline and educational programming which address the needs of a broad variety of students from all backgrounds.

Job tasks The position will report to the Associate Director of Campus Living Conduct. The major purpose of this position is to provide support for the AD in the Campus Living Conduct Office. Time will be spent in assisting with special projects for the Director of Residence Life and the two other Associate Directors for Residence Life. Support will include assessing and resolving incoming inquiries. Additional responsibility includes directing incoming requests when unable to resolve without initial efforts. Supervising and training student staff who will greet visitors to the office, process paperwork, compose and draft correspondence and reports. This position also supervises input of data. This position will act as a liaison and representative of the AD when communicating with students, parents, family, and other administrators. Utilization of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Publisher to create documents, spreadsheets, reports, and publications. supervise maintenance of adequate and accurate filing system and assisting in opening activities and other Campus Living related work as directed. This position will be required to assist in other jobs as they occur, such as Return Housing, Open House, and other special projects.

Client/Customer Service (25%): function model and develop efficient customer service relations within the office and on behalf of the department. Train supervises and coach departmental staff on customer service best practices. Answer and respond to routine, as well as novel, unusual, or complex requests of inquiries.

Information Records Management (25%): Collect, input, organize, store, and retrieve information and records quickly and efficiently. This employee will aid in assisting others in collecting, inputting, organizing, storing, or retrieving information and records. Perform research and analysis of institutional information.

Managing Work Processes and Program Management (20%): Prioritizes workload of self and others. Proactively participate in promoting student learning and leadership abilities involvement initiatives in meeting program goals and services. Assist in the development of learning activities designed to implement departmental and work standards and processes. Identify, document, and provide input to proposed changes to work standards, processes and procedures for discussion with stakeholders.

Decision Making and Coordinating Operations (20%): Coordinate scope of work operations and processes, as assigned, to meet desired results including student and staff operational scheduling. Scheduling: Schedules appointments for the Associate Director, adjunct Director and supervises the scheduling for a halftime Conduct Coordinator and graduate adjuncts. Establishes meetings times and locations with staff and other significant individuals and office coverage. In order to complete the above task, this individual must have expertise of the on-line scheduling software.

Supervision, Managing Work and Performance (10%):
Supervise student staff. Review student performance on an on-going everyday basis providing suggestions, training, and coaching in the promotion of efficient operations and student learning and development.

Other tasks as assigned by manager or designee.
