South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is the state's public educational broadcasting network. Using television, radio, and the web, SCETV's mission is to enrich lives by educating children, informing and connecting citizens, celebrating our culture and environment, and instilling the joy of learning. SCETV provides national and local content to classrooms via the internet
services Knowitall.org and PBS Learning Media. SCETV also provides teacher training and re-certification in face-to-face and online settings.

JOB PURPOSE:
Proficiently installs, monitors, maintains, and repairs equipment and systems which use standards and formats common to multi-platform media distribution. Performs diagnostics and evaluates various media storage, ingest, playout, automation, supporting networks, and technologies related to inbound and outbound signals. Technical support to agency productions as needed and scheduled by management. Keeps up with industry standards and advises management on potential applications for the benefit of the agency's general performance and improvement planning. Works collaboratively with multiple departments.

JOB tasks:
Diagnose and correct local and wide area networking, and Internet protocol problems in the broadcast environment. Maintain all broadcast related servers and keep up with hardware and software updates as well as routine maintenance. Accurately diagnose and correct malfunctions pertaining to the inbound and outbound signal in the broadcast network. Effectively keep equipment in optimum operating condition. Provide technical engineering assistance in computing and networking methodologies and technologies.

Provide technical engineering assistance in the planning, design, and construction of production/routing/distribution on all inbound and outbound signals. Will maintain upkeep of equipment and systems related to media ingest, storage, playout, automation, processing, and distribution.

Assist in planning and wiring of new, or the retrofit of old technical areas with a focus on industry standards and engineering best practices. Assist in the selection and purchase of equipment to meet new requirements or for the replacement of aging or obsolete equipment. Provide technical engineering assistance in the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of remote transmission sites, studios, and signal pathways all over the state system.

Evaluates plans and designs future infrastructure supporting audio, video, collaboration, streaming, and other digital broadcast content. Designs end-to-end networks for the deployment of video streaming initiatives and provides solutions for high-visibility conferences and meetings. Assists management in planning the strategic direction for video infrastructure technology and services. Accurately document time and resources spent on various projects located on the most up-to-date information available.

Serve as technical support for studio, remote, and postproduction activities. May include working dedicated positions during production as needed. Provide technical engineering assistance in the planning, construction, and maintenance of productions, the routing of the signal and distribution connected with SCETV, SC Public Radio, and other services we provide.

Other related tasks.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

An associate's degree in a related area; or a high school diploma and practice in the repair and maintenance of electronic broadcasting equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

An associate's degree and four years of related work practice or any equivalent combination of education, training, and practice.
Electronics practice, AutoCAD, practice with Broadcast media
