Job Summary The Division of Extension and Engagement is seeking a salaried Academic Wage: Carnegie Community Engagement Classification Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term position. This position is anticipated to last approximately until May 31, 2025. Refer to the Working Conditions Section of the Posting for possibility of remote or hybrid options.

Oregon State University (OSU) prosperously earned the institutional classification for Community Engagement in 2010 and 2020 from the Carnegie Foundation and the American Council on Education (ACE). The 2026 re-application cycle for this continued status is now open and requires a comprehensive institutional self-study of changes and improvements since the 2020 cycle. This position will lead and coordinate this data gathering and application submission effort. This is a time-limited position through May 2025, since the 2026 application deadline is April 2025.

The Carnegie Community Engagement Classification Coordinator will work collaboratively with and report to the Associate Vice Provost for Engagement in the Division of Extension and Engagement. This individual will also work with the Carnegie Community Engagement Application Task Force, members of the OSU Engagement Council, and other significant OSU employees and external community partners to serve as the point of coordination for data gathering and assessment activities. This Coordinator will lead the information analysis and synthesis, writing of the application narrative, and final compilation of the application for submission.

Community engagement describes collaboration between institutions of higher education and their larger communities (local, regional/state, national, global) for the mutually beneficial exchange of expertise and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity. The purpose of community engagement is the partnership of college and university expertise and resources with those of the public and private sectors to enrich scholarship, research, and creative activity; enhance curriculum, teaching, and learning; prepare educated, engaged citizens; strengthen democratic values and civic responsibility; address critical societal issues; and contribute to the public good.

Key Responsibilities 50% Data Collection & Assessment
   » Coordinate with other staff in both academic and non-academic units to identify and gather significant data for the various sections of the application.
   » Develop and disseminate assessments for community partners as needed with consultation of the Associate Vice Provost for Engagement and the Carnegie Community Engagement Application Task Force.
   » Aid in the evaluation and assessment of OSU's engagement mission, values, and strategic activities with the Associate Vice Provost for Engagement and the Carnegie Community Engagement Application Task Force.
   » Take the lead with identifying and reporting significant data points and case study examples significant to the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification re-application framework.

40% Organization & Communications
   » Curate, develop, and maintain all OSU materials required for the re-application packet.
   » Provide quality assurance of materials submitted as supporting evidence for sections of the re-application packet.
   » Develop and disseminate monthly progress updates for the Associate Vice Provost for Engagement and the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification Task Force.
   » Maintain and update the re-application process on the OSU Engagement website.
   » Once the final application has been submitted, curate an executive summary of key findings and recommendations for continuous improvement that will be disseminated to key OSU leaders and external community partners.

10% Other tasks
   » Participate in virtual peer learning opportunities provided by the ACE Engage network and report significant information that will facilitate OSU's re-application process.
   » Provide one-on-one consultations and feedback sessions, if requested, with contributors to the re-application packet. Utilize techniques that encourage inclusive dialogue that considers different communication styles and expectations.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule The primary work location for this position is the OSU Division of Extension and Engagement office in Ballard Extension Hall on OSU's campus in Corvallis, Oregon. However, flexible work may be established via OSU's Flexible Work Arrangement Agreement Form , with pre-determined periodic reviews of on-going work for continuation of the agreement.
